If someone surveyed a forest, like went through it and plotted out the trees by species so they had a pattern for each one…could they then use a mathematical analysis of how trees of each species tend to drop or scatter their seeds to trace all the trees back to the mommy tree of each species that started the forest?
Or would they find that, the tree they trace it to, when it was young, was part of a different forest and was the sapling of trees before it that no longer exist, so that forests actually migrate across a piece of land?
